Here it is! The World's Most Dangerous Cake Recipe! It was a huge success for writing, reading, measuring... and eating!
World’s Most Dangerous Cake…
4 15ml flour
4 15ml sugar
2 15ml cocoa
1 egg
3 15ml milk
3 15ml oil
1 15ml chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly. Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again. Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed! Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. EAT ! (This can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night.
Reading...
Students will be reading a wide variety of materials this year, including poems, short stories, cartoons, letters and chapter books. They will use many different strategies to help them decode words and understand what they are reading. Students will have silent reading time in class, and will have the opportunity to read with parteners, small groups and the whole class. Parents are asked to read with their children for about 15 to 20 minutes every week day. If you would like some books for your child, please let me know and I will get that set up for you.
Spelling...
Each week, students will be given a new list of spelling words that focus on a particular word family. These words will be written down by them in their agenda. Students will work on word study skills throughout the week. In the event they do not finish their work in class, they will need to complete it at home. During the week we will practise the words at school, but it would also be very beneficial for students to practise them at home with their parents to support this learning. A post-test will be given every Friday, or on the last day of the school week.
Writing...
Students will write in a variety of forms to communicate ideas and information in clear and organized language. Using complete sentences with focus on capitalization, punctuation and best spelling will be emphasised. Students will be encouraged to be creative and add detail to their stories. Handwriting practise will also be done throughout the year.
